Coach Josh

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Josh began his martial art journey as a wrestler at 12 years old, competing competitively throughout high school and into college where he was an NCWA qualifier in 2011. Utilizing his wrestling experience, he also coached junior high and high school wrestling students for 4 years. In summer of 2017, he took up jiu-jitsu as a hobby until after receiving his blue belt in 2019 and had to stop like many others to prioritize other life factors. After being away for almost 3.5 years, Josh reignited his passion for jiu-jitsu after meeting Professor Rodrigo & Monique in 2023. From this point on, Josh knew he wanted to pursue jiu-jitsu full-time and became a dedicated competitor and practitioner of the sport.

Currently Josh is a purple belt supporting the North South team with kid classes and looks to help new students trying to get into the sport for the first time. His main goal is to help people reach their full potential and challenge their impossible. He believes it’s never too late to start or restart when it comes to jiu-jitsu and one’s fitness journey.  He looks forward to being a continuous learner and grow in Jiu Jitsu as a competitor and one day a full-time instructor. He is also a certified personal trainer,  and working towards being a certified nutritionist.
