Professor Rodrigo

Professor Rodrigo was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro Brazil and started his jiu-jitsu journey at 8 years old. Since his first Jiu Jitsu class, Professor Rodrigo has always been guided by his older brother and black belt Leandro “Tatu” Escobar. Professor Rodrigo entered the world of competition at a young age. At the Purple belt level, Professor Rodrigo saw a new passion awaken for the sport and soon became Tatu’s right-hand man at the academy. Tatu Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is located in the Tijuca district and has produced many world champions and amazing competitors. Upon receiving his black belt in 2019, Professor Rodrigo moved to Texas to focus more on his Jiu Jitsu career.  By age 27, Professor Rodrigo has achieved several outstanding results in international competition, including 3rd place in the adult black belt division at the 2021 IBJJF NOGI Jiu Jitsu World Championship. His passion for building and coaching champions is never ending. Professor Rodrigo believes that through his tireless work, he can help to expand the Jiu Jitsu community here and around the world. That’s his main fight.
